A conversation has been held with the volunteer regarding their proposed role and the fact that their DBS check is still pending.
The conversation covered, where appropriate:- The volunteer’s proposed role and responsibilities.
- The volunteer must ensure that they are accompanied by a DBS-approved volunteer when working with minors or vulnerable adults.
- Discuss the Jesus Youth safeguarding policy and procedures.
- Discuss any previous experience of working with children or vulnerable adults.
- Discuss any convictions, warnings, or police involvement since the DBS application was submitted.
- Confirm completion of the required volunteer training.
- Emphasise the requirement to report any safeguarding concerns immediately.
Assessment statement: Following the conversation with the volunteer, and having considered the information currently available to us, we have no safeguarding concerns or other information that would prevent the volunteer from undertaking the proposed volunteering activity while their DBS application is being processed, subject to the safeguards and restrictions outlined in this assessment.
I confirm that I have considered the information available to me, including the volunteer’s references, existing DBS information where applicable, and the conversation held with the volunteer. I have recorded any relevant concerns and identified appropriate interim safeguards while the DBS application is pending.
